I have been thinking lately. In itself that’s not too strange, because most people tend to think sometimes. It just popped into my mind, after reading an article about interaction with computers. Hold on. Mouse. Keyboard. Touchscreen and that’s about it. No hanky panky. But now some bright people are researching brain controlled computers. If you remember the old mouse pointing devices, you know, the ones that came with a cord and a mouse – ball, then you also remember yourself using Q-tips to clean the horizontal and vertical rollers. And the ball itself of course.
It always made you wonder where all that gooey stuff came from that accumulated in here. Then you realize your dog sheds, you smoke and you are using an old mouse pad.
Keyboards. Once I turned one upside down and shook it a little. With the tobacco that fell on my desk from that flipped over keyboard I could roll smokes for weeks… As a matter of speech.
OK. No more touching. We are communicating by brain waves only. I hope my computer is up to my weird thinking patterns.
My blog is a whole different story. It’s used to me and the other day I received an email from my blog: “I want to interview you…”
OK Blog, your interview time starts.
“Blogger since?”, a bossy voice sounds from the small speakers of ‘ ye ole laptop’. Well, not really bossy, but the sound kinda surprised me. “Let me think… May 2011. It started off as a place I needed to vent my thoughts. My ideas”.
“Why?”, miss little speakers again… “I just felt like I needed to. Not everything has to have a reason, you know…”.
“What is the stupidest thing you have ever done to me?”. “At one time I deleted over one hundred posts, just because I felt that I did not need them any more. Caused me a lot of headache after I had done that..”.
“You know I have to ask you this. Did you, or did you not, at any time in your blogging career, Published a post and regretted posting it later?”
“Not yet, but I will, if I try really hard.”. “Maybe it’s in your nature to – kinda – look at things in a different way?”. Gawd… miss no Dolby Surround thinks Freud now. I’ll give her some ‘gestalt’.
“The way I look at things is irrelevant. It’s the way what I write that let’s ‘others’ fill in the blanks, before they see the whole picture. Then – when it turns out to be something totally different, it might surprise them, or not. It all depends…”
“On what?”, the blog asked. “Oh what they expect me to say – or write, silly? It does not really matter. I’m just doing my thing.”. “That’s not giving me all the answers, buddy…” Miss Bloggy started to sound disappointed. I could start feeling Freud and Friends sighing. “No good.”
Want to go out for an Ice cream?
What do you do if your blog is getting disappointed and sad? Right! You get her some fresh plugins – pardon the pun – and buy some ice cream. A box of chocolate would be OK too, but the moon is not in the right setting for that.
A pair of shoes maybe.
Those old Converses need to be traded in for some newer ones. Maybe some of those ultra light hiking boots, water repellent?
Old shoes are like old jeans. They just grow on you. You feel good in them and they feel and smell like a good friend.
But sometimes – when there is a real important occasion – you need to let go of them. The seams come apart, the soles are leaky and the laces are gone, long gone.
It’s time for some new shoes for this blog of mine.
The occasion? One year together. On WordPress. Self Hosted, like the big guns of blogging. What do you think? She’s looking better now I think. And she thinks that too and that’s all that matters. One year baby.
Thinking… “What if I go all the way and rented ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ for tonight…” Downloading it is probably faster than renting it. The laptop responds – by magic – and starts the download.
That’s the future for you. I started off by talking about mind controlled computers. Maybe it’s not such a good thing after all. I am thinking ‘shut down’. For the night. Power off. *Ploink* Blank screen.
